Background
The Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta (IPPSA) was established in the 1990’s to represent independent electricity generators investing in Alberta’s competitive wholesale electricity market. Since inception, IPPSA promoted competitive market approaches within Alberta’s fair, efficient, and openly competitive wholesale market. Today, IPPSA’s diverse membership is comprised of all parts of Alberta’s electricity sector, including generators, transmission and distribution facility owners, construction, engineering, and legal firms and private consultants, all engaging in open dialogue about the Alberta electricity sector.
Based in Alberta, IPPSA is governed by a Board of Directors elected by voting members at its Annual General Meeting in accordance with its bylaws and policies.
As the leading Canadian independent power producer society, we unite members to support a fair, efficient and openly competitive electricity market in Alberta. We support investor confidence and prosperity for Albertans by promoting investments in affordable, reliable, clean energy production.
