“The Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta (IPPSA) members acknowledges the Government of Alberta’s intention to build contingency plans related to the proposed 2035 adoption of the Federal Clean Electricity Regulations (CER).  We recognize this as a precautionary measure to be contemplated in the mid-2030s only if mutually agreeable terms of the CER design and implementation plan cannot be reached between the two governments thereby ensuring the reliability and affordability of the provincial grid during the net-zero transition. IPPSA remains confident that a fair and competitive environment for electricity generation in Alberta continues to be the best outcome for Albertans.”

The IPPSA is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Chair, Dustin Owens and Vice-Chair, Lisa Mueller.

Thank you to our outgoing Chair, Tim Boston, (Vice-President, Government Relations and Public Policy, ENMAX) for his service and leadership during his tenure with IPPSA.

“This is an exciting time for Alberta’s power industry, with significant challenges and opportunities associated with sector-wide decarbonization.  I look forward to working with members from across the electricity sector in providing solutions to policymakers.

As Alberta’s electricity sector prepared for an unprecedented pace of change.  I’m confident that independent power producers will respond, leading decarbonization with commitment to competition and through innovation.”
