About Evan Bahry
Executive Director, Energy Connections Canada

Evan Bahry has spent the majority of his career advancing Canadian energy infrastructure—first in the power sector and now in pipelines. He believes that responsible energy development fosters supply, choice, innovation, and efficiency, all of which ultimately benefit end-use consumers. He is particularly optimistic about Canada’s role in the energy transition, noting that the country’s rich resources and technical expertise position it well to make significant strides in decarbonization.

Mr. Bahry currently serves as Executive Director of Energy Connections Canada (ECC), the national association representing Canada’s pipeline owners and their supporting industries. ECC delivers value to its members by promoting advancements in pipeline quality, safety, and regulatory practices. Its members play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for Canadians through the responsible transport of one of the country’s most essential commodities: energy.

Before joining ECC, Mr. Bahry was the Executive Director of the Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta (IPPSA). During his tenure, policy supporting open markets and competition helped Alberta grow into the third-largest power market in Canada. In parallel, thanks to pipelines and the natural gas they deliver, Alberta’s power system successfully transitioned away from coal, reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 44% between 2005 and 2020.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Bahry held roles at a public affairs consulting firm, an energy market consultancy, the City of Calgary’s Economic Development Authority, and in federal politics, working for the Hon. Harvie Andre, a former Cabinet Minister.

Mr. Bahry holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and an MBA, both from the University of Calgary.
